Bethlehem’s Warrior Baby by Ray Hawkins

In 31 daily devotional meditations Bethlehem’s Warrior Baby takes you out of a sentimental nativity scene and into a contest with eternal significance. It walks you through God’s promise in Genesis 3:15 of Someone coming and the clues to His identity in the old Testament. You become aware that in the Christmas event that ‘Someone’ has come.
I believe Christmas is the culmination of Heaven’s countdown to reclaim men, women and creation from the tyranny of sin, death and Satan. The cost involved to God to achieve this should make the reader bow in awe and gratitude.

Review from Shirley: Bethlehem’s Warrior Baby by Ray Hawkins is an unusual take on the story of the Nativity. Chapter headings such as, “The Warrior Baby,” “Did the Angels Get it Wrong?” “Mystery Men,” give an idea of the treat that is in store. These devotional meditations will open your eyes to:

  • The conquering Lord.
  • The wonder of Christmas.
  • His victory in your life.

These are not quick and easy reads. They cause you to think. Some of them sent me searching the Scriptures to dig out the real nuggets of what Ray was saying, and for that reason I haven’t finished the book.

I have experienced some real “Wow!” moments and want to savor each meditation. But as the book has been on tour, and I am already late with this review (due to the slow postal system between Ray’s Tasmania, and my South Africa) I want to share this with you. It will make a great Christmas present for the person who wants to look further than the little baby in a manger, and find a deeper understanding of the warrior baby who came to earth for our sakes.
