Africa Book Safari

During the month of October, a group of Christian authors who either live in Africa or are rooted in this amazing continent, are teaming up for an exciting adventure.

We’re going on an Africa Book Safari! Together, we will discover some of the rich, diverse colors and nuances of Africa through stories, devotions, and memoirs, all set in Africa. What’s more, because we are writers, we would like to invite you all to come along with us!

For free!

Lisa: We will be traveling together in a blog hop through a number of blog posts featuring fiction and non-fiction books, all centered in Africa. Our Safari Guide will be interviewing each of us, and we invite you to listen in as we chat about ourselves and our books.  You will find the interviews on the author’s own sites, as well as posted on one another’s blogs or websites.

Meet our Safari Guide

So come along and join in the fun! And here comes our guide who will be taking us on our safari.

Safari Guide: Hi! I believe you are Lisa Harris, is that correct?

Lisa: It sure is. And you, I presume, are going to be our Tour Leader for this great time. What should we call you?

Safari Guide: You can call me Mr. Africa!

Are you all comfortable? Please buckle up your seat-belts. Starting today, I plan to show you all different angles to this continent.

Lisa, it’s your turn to sit up front with me. Everyone, let’s go discover Africa!

As our large safari landrover moves away from the buildings and
heads into the wilds of Africa, Mr. Africa swings in his seat to face me.

Safari Guide / Mr. Africa: So, Lisa, tell me a bit about yourself. Have you always lived in Africa?

Missing ~ by Lisa Harris

MissingThe Nikki Boyd Files Book #2

Nikki Boyd works for The Missing Persons Special Task Force. Her job description doesn’t normally include homicide cases. Missing starts out with a bang, with Nikki and her partners being called in to work a double homicide as well as search for two missing people, Mac and Lucy Hudson.

The story that follows is a crazy ride including a hostage situation, counterfeit drugs, an increasing number of dead bodies, and a mystery link between her dearest friend, Tyler Grant, and the Hudsons.

Book Two of the series:

MISSING is book two of the Nikki Boyd Files series, available now for pre-order. Click To Tweet

I found it helpful that I had read Book 1, Vendetta. This story would probably stand on its own. However, I was glad to be reading it as a follow on from the previous book. I found this story more involved than Lisa’s other books and truly marvel at the way she came up with this complex plot with various stories interweaving with each other.

Nikki’s missing sister, Sarah, is still missing from Book#1. By the end of Book #2 there are still no clues indicating whether she is dead or alive. I look forward to Book #3. I do hope before the end of the series we have a resolution to Sarah. And dare I hope for a happy ending? It seems unlikely, given the length of time she has been missing.

Christian Suspense

Lisa Harris owes me two almost-sleepless nights as I raced through the story, Vendetta.

This Christian suspense novel has a touch of romance but the story is packed full of action. The story exploded on the first page and just kept going until the end. Each time I read “just to the end of the chapter,” I found myself going on for “just one more page”.

Hidden Agenda ~ by Lisa Harris

Hidden Agenda

“Michael Hunt staggered from the impact of the blow.”

This is the opening sentence of Lisa Harris’s Hidden Agenda, and the tension escalates from that moment.  Michael, an undercover cop investigating a drug cartel, has had his cover blown and has only a few hours to live. He is rescued by Ivan and Olivia, the son and daughter of Antonio Valez, the head of the cartel.

The story is fast-paced and believable, as the trio makes their escape from a heavily-guarded island, only to discover that Michael is also wanted by the police for a number of serious crimes.

There is an emotional tug each time Olivia and Ivan discover key people from their past are not who they believed them to be.  This is a direct contrast to the united and caring Hunt family who don’t hesitate to drop everything and come alongside Michael and Olivia.

The plot line is clever and keeps you guessing while each character is well defined. As a refreshing change for this genre of book, the three main characters all share a strong faith while still being far from perfect.  Where Olivia has difficulty releasing a protective control over her younger, deaf brother, Michael too is overly protective of his family and later Olivia. Even the two main “bad guys” have their soft spots and you can’t help having a smidgeon of sympathy with them, despite their evil way of life.

Despite the seedy background of drug running, Lisa has managed to keep the language clean while not in any way watering down the vivid narrative.

I read this book in less than 24 hours, reading until late at night and sneaking in a reading time the following afternoon to finish it.  If you enjoy suspense stories with some  romance, you will enjoy this book. I don’t hesitate to give it a 5-star rating. Hidden Agenda can be purchased here.

Deadly Safari by Lisa Harris

Deadly Safari

When Texas Ranger Alex Markham is sent to Africa to protect an ambassador’s daughter he has no idea what he is taking on. Meghan Jordan, a wildlife filmmaker, is an independent young woman determined to make her own way in life without any babysitting or guidance from over-protective males.

The location and scenery of the story are beautifully portrayed by Lisa Harris, which comes as no surprise as she lives in Africa and loves the country, its inhabitants, and its wildlife. The characters are well put together and believable, with one exception.

I happily recommend this book, especially if you enjoy a deeper look into the beautiful wild country of Africa. As always, Lisa has again earned her tagline as she invites you to “Step Away from the Ordinary.”Lisa Harris(2)
