More Blessings

1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (CEV) Jabez was a man who got his name because of the pain he caused his mother during birth. But he was still the most respected son in his family. One day he prayed to Israel’s God, “Please bless me and give me a lot of land. Be with me so I will be safe from harm.” And God did just what Jabez had asked.

On a number of occasions I have prayed the same way as Jabez. God has heard my prayers and blessed me. Yet not always in the way I wanted. The “prayer of Jabez” is not a lucky charm that can be used whenever and however we want. Jabez was “the most respected son in his family.” People looked up to him. He walked with God. He recognised that God was his protection from harm.

When I put my trust in God, and follow His ways, I can pray “Please bless me,” and look forward to His blessings.

PRAYER: Lord, please bless me. But help me to always stay close to you, that others may respect me
